CASE STUDY: Staining of cement for an outdoor mall

PROBLEM: Deviating from bare cement while not creating a slip hazard

SOLUTION: Penetrating / Colored Stain

This account wanted to color the cement to make the property more presentable and avoid a light-colored surface (bare cement) that would be difficult to maintain. What is important here is that many products are marketed as stain-resistant; however, they will stain or color the surface. The problem is that they are too much like paint. Painting the cement will peel up over time. Trying to match the paint after oxidation is next to impossible. This turns into a never-ending, ineffective maintenance cycle.

We use a translucent (clear base), colored, penetrating stain that penetrates the surface, preventing peeling and slip hazards, along with a full palette of colors to choose from. This gives the end user more flexibility, for example, rather than using dull battleship grays.

In addition, we can customize the surface. Instead of having a surface that is all the same consistent color throughout, we can vary the application process to give the area a more textured or ragged look, adding more personality.
