Sealing Pavers Around a Pool
Pavers around a pool deck must be sealed. Many commercial properties seal the entrance pavers to prevent oil stains, but not the pool deck. Pool decks, however, are exposed to similar products and oils. In addition, there are pool chemicals, not to mention body oils. Pavers also fade very rapidly and must be protected. Especially in South Florida and climates with a lot of sun exposure.
Most properties only have access to paver sealing. We use a proprietary coating process for pavers. The difference is simple; sealers only last 1-1.5 years, while the coating is more durable and lasts longer. We’re averaging 4-5 years with the coating process. Sealers form a mechanical bond with the substrate. That bond is broken down by UV radiation and abrasion. The coating process also forms a chemical bond with the substrate. The coating steals an electron from the substrate and actually becomes one with the surface, resulting in added durability. Our crews can apply our process all over the U.S.
In addition, sealing pavers around a pool deck can make the surface slippery. And although non-slip aggregates can be added, as the sealer dissipates, so goes the non-slip. The coating process is a three-part process in which the non-slip is sandwiched between two layers of durable coating, resulting in a long-lasting non-slip paver or non-slip tile surface.
