Sealing Travertine, Marble, Limestone & Stamped Concrete Decks across the US
Advanced Non-Slip Pool Deck Protection
At National Sealing, we’ve developed the most durable non-slip application for pool decks using our Proprietary 3-Part Coating and Nano Non Slip Beads. Unlike local contractors who rely on common sealers and brittle “shark grip” additives, our system is engineered for long-lasting protection and safety:
- 3 - 5× more durability than standard non-slip sealers
- 3-Part Coating enhances stone more than common sealers
- Proprietary Nano Non Slip Beads – the most durable non-slip application in the U.S.
- Largest Paver Sealing Co. in the U.S., established 2001, with 25+ years of experience
By COMPARISON: The Only Option Available for local contractors / handymen
So what’s available locally? Local handymen and contractors only have access to common sealers. To make them “non-slip,” they mix in shark grip powder or even play sand. Many contractors are now trying to capitalize on the success of National Sealing by advertising a so-called “coating.” Nope — it’s just a sealer. Remember: if it’s not National Sealing, it’s not a coating.
- Brittle texture that wears down within a year
- Frequent, costly reapplications
- Layered sealers that eventually fail and require stripping

The Only Real Solution
Our 3-Part Coating + Nano Non-Slip System:
If it isn't National Sealing - it isn't a coating. Many local contractors are attempting to offer "Coating" – the 3-Part Coating System is a process developed by National Sealing decades ago. Local folks are limited to using common sealers, and simply wanting to capitalize on our success. Our 3-part coating is proprietary technology that isn't available through other sources.

There’s only (4) Options for Protection on the Entire Planet
(2 of which we’ve developed)
| Option | Description | Durability | Risks / Drawbacks | Best For |
| Option 1 | Penetrating / Impregnating Sealer | 6–12 months | Creates slip hazard, rapid UV fading, no surface protection, costly stripping over time | Interior stone (not recommended for exterior decks) |
| Option 2 | Sealer + Shark Grip or Play Sand | ~1 year | Brittle, wears down fast, frequent reapplications, layering leads to failure | DIY or local contractor quick fixes |
| Option 3 | Sealer + Proprietary Nano Non Slip Beads | ~3 years | Still uses sealer and therefore at the mercy of the limited life of a sealer | Budget-conscious upgrade over local options |
| Option 4 | Proprietary 3-Part Coating + Nano Non Slip Beads | 4–5 years + | Superior durability; enhances color, protects surface, longest-lasting non-slip protection in the U.S. | Homeowners seeking maximum protection, safety, and beauty |
Careful: The Penetrating / Impregnating Sealer Deception That’s Destroying Your Investment
The “penetrating / impregnating sealer” story has been passed around like a game of telephone. Many homeowners (and even pool contractors) are told to use it on Travertine or Marble. While these products are great for interior applications (countertops), they are the wrong choice for exterior applications such as pool decks.
NOTE: Unbiased approach as we can certainly apply a penetrating / impregnating sealer — in fact, it’s listed as Option #1 on our site. However, based on decades of experience, we do not recommend it for exterior use.
Concerns with Penetrating / Impregnating Sealers:
- Slip hazard – water forced to sit on the surface creates dangerous slick spots
- Short lifespan – breaks down in just 6–12 months under sun and chemicals
- UV fading – up to 50% color loss in 3 years (travertine)
- Surface damage – saltwater and pool chemicals degrade the stone
- Risk of staining from spills, potted plants etc…
- High maintenance – frequent re-applications build up residue, eventually requiring costly stripping
Does this look slick to you??
Why are penetrating / impregnating sealers still pushed or applied?
Because they’re quick and easy for contractors. One application, done. But you’re left with a slick deck, faded stone, costly re-applications, and expensive long-term damage.
Comparing Penetrating Sealer vs. National Sealing 3-Part Coating

| Durability |
6 - 12 months outdoors before reapplication
|
Lasts 3 - 5x longer (multi-year protection)

| Maintenance |
Frequent reapplications; buildup can fall and require striping
|
Low-maintenance coating designed for longevity
|
| Cost Over Time |
Low upfront, but costly due to frequent re-sealing
|
Higher upfront, but far lower lifecycle cost
|
Key Takeaway: Penetrating sealers = short-lived, slippery, do not protect the surface
